This year marks more than a decade of attending Energy Trading Week (ETW) Europe for me personally, and my sixth year representing Fidectus as CEO. Each time I return to ETW, I’m reminded why it remains a must-attend in my calendar: it is where our industry gathers to share ideas, confront challenges, and shape the future of energy trading together.
Some of the most valuable lessons I’ve taken away from ETW haven’t come from the sessions themselves, but from the conversations in between. It’s often the coffee-break discussions and chance meetings that spark new ideas, highlight common challenges, and open the door to collaboration. That spirit of exchange is what makes ETW so unique and so important for our community.
Over the years, I’ve witnessed both the market, and this event evolve - from navigating shifting regulatory landscapes to embracing digitalisation and new technologies. What stays constant is the energy that comes from connecting with peers who truly understand this market and are committed to moving it forward.
In 2025, I’m especially looking forward to the session “AI-driven efficiency: Enhancing post-trade processes in energy trading”, which will dive into use cases showing how AI improves accuracy, speed, and compliance in trade capture, settlements, and regulatory and risk reporting.
AI and post-trade relate to what we at Fidectus focus on every day. Whether it’s regulatory change with EMIR Refit and REMIT II, the ongoing push for faster, more resilient settlement processes, complying with the e-Invoicing EN 16931 standard, interoperability, or AI-powered OCR of PDF confirmations, our industry is being reshaped by innovation, technology, and the need for greater efficiency. ETW is the perfect setting to connect those practical realities with broader market perspectives.
For Fidectus, ETW is not just about visibility. It’s about being part of a dialogue that drives real change. We engage with colleagues, partners, and innovators on how to make OTC energy trading markets more efficient, seamless, and innovative. These discussions are vital because no single company can solve the challenges of OTC energy trading alone - collaboration across the ecosystem is essential.
As I look ahead, ETW reminds me of the progress we’ve already made as a community, and the opportunities still ahead of us. The strength of this industry lies in our ability to share knowledge, challenge assumptions, and work together to build the resilient, interoperable, digital market infrastructure that the present and future OTC energy trading demands.
I look forward to reconnecting with many of you in London at ETW 2025. If you’ll be there, let’s take the opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and explore how we can continue shaping the future of our industry together.
